Privacy Policy

The short version: PollenPath is designed with privacy at its core. Your health data never leaves your device. We don't track you, we don't run analytics, and we don't sell your data. Period.

This Privacy Policy describes how PollenPath ("we," "our," or "the app") collects, uses, and protects your information. By using PollenPath, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Health Data (Apple HealthKit)

PollenPath reads and writes allergy symptom data (type, severity, timestamps, optional notes) and reads respiratory metrics (peak flow, SpO₂, respiratory rate) through Apple HealthKit.

All health data is stored exclusively in Apple HealthKit on your device.
Health data is never sent to our servers or any third-party service.
Health data is never used for advertising or marketing purposes.
You control which HealthKit data types the app can access through iOS Settings.

1.2 Location Data

PollenPath requests "When In Use" location permission to provide local pollen, air quality, and weather data.

Your location is rounded to city level (~11 km precision) before being sent to any external service.
We never store or transmit your precise coordinates.
Location is used solely to look up environmental conditions for your area.

1.3 App Data

PollenPath stores the following on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework:

Your display name (optional) and allergen preferences
Cached pollen, air quality, and weather snapshots (12-hour expiry)
Generated insights and trend analysis results
Alert preferences and notification settings
Subscription status

If you have iCloud enabled, app data (excluding health data) syncs across your devices via Apple CloudKit.

1.4 Purchase Information

Subscription purchases are managed entirely by Apple through StoreKit 2. We store only your subscription tier and expiration date locally for feature access. We do not have access to your payment information.

2. How We Use Your Information

All machine learning analysis (trend detection, correlation analysis, trigger identification) runs entirely on your device using Apple's Core ML framework. No health or personal data is sent to cloud-based AI services.

3. Third-Party Services

PollenPath uses the following third-party services, sending only coarse location data:

We do not use any advertising networks, analytics SDKs, crash reporting services, or data brokers.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. Data is shared only as described in Section 3 (third-party services necessary for app functionality) and as required by law.

5. Tracking

PollenPath does not track you. Specifically:

We do not access the Advertising Identifier (IDFA)
We do not use any cross-app or cross-site tracking
We do not include any third-party analytics or tracking SDKs
We do not create user profiles for advertising

6. Data Security

Health data is protected by Apple HealthKit's hardware-level encryption
App data is stored in Apple's SwiftData framework with standard iOS data protection
CloudKit data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple
API calls to Google services use HTTPS encryption
No custom backend servers — all data stays within the Apple ecosystem

7. Data Retention & Deletion

7.1 Automatic Expiry

Cached pollen, air quality, and weather data expires automatically after 12 hours.

7.2 Deleting Your Data

Health data: Manage via iOS Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > PollenPath. You can revoke access or delete specific records.
App data: Delete all app data from PollenPath Settings > Delete All Data. This removes all locally stored and iCloud-synced app data.
Reinstallation: Deleting the app removes all local data. iCloud data can be removed via iOS Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Manage Storage.
Subscriptions: Manage or cancel via the App Store. Apple handles all subscription billing data.

8. Children's Privacy

PollenPath is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app does not require account creation and stores health data only in Apple HealthKit under the device owner's control.

9. International Users

PollenPath operates without centralized servers. Your data is stored on your device and, if iCloud is enabled, in Apple's data centers according to Apple's Privacy Policy. Coarse location data sent to Google's APIs is processed according to Google's Privacy Policy.

For European Users (GDPR)

Legal basis: Consent (you choose to grant HealthKit and location permissions) and legitimate interest (providing app functionality)
Data minimization: We collect only what is necessary for the app to function
Right to access: All your data is visible within the app and Apple Health
Right to deletion: See Section 7.2
Right to portability: Export health data via Apple Health's built-in export feature

For California Users (CCPA)

We do not sell your personal information
We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising
You have the right to know, delete, and opt out — see Section 7.2 for deletion instructions

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
